Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province experienced three consecutive earthquakes in the early morning of today (26th), one of which was 5.6 on the Richter Scale and had a focal depth of 11 kilometers.
According to China Central Television, the earthquake occurred at 3:49 a.m., and was felt strongly in Moxi Township, Luding County, which is located at the epicenter. Chengdu, 223 kilometers away from the epicentre, was also strongly felt. After the earthquake, both Hailuogou Scenic Area and Ganzi Prefecture sent people to Moxi Town to carry out investigations.
According to the China Earthquake Network, two followingshocks of 4.5 and 3.2 occurred at 3:50 and 4:30 following the earthquake.
A 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit Ganzi on September 5 last year, killing 46 people.
