(CNN) — Three children were found dead in a Texas home and two others were taken to hospitals Friday followingnoon, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office said.
All five were siblings, confirmed Child Protective Services (CPS) a WFAACNN affiliate.
They were in “CPS temporary care,” according to Tiffani Butler of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
The house is in the small town of Italy, regarding 40 miles (64 kilometers) south of Dallas.
“We are shocked by this incomprehensible tragedy and are already working with law enforcement to investigate how and why this happened,” Butler told CNN.
Sheriff’s Deputy Jerry Cozby said a suspect has been taken into custody and there is “no danger to the public at this time.”
