Three Albanian brothers jailed for beating and robbing their victims

Three brothers were sentenced to prison terms by the Single-Member Criminal Appeal Court of Thessaloniki, because they were robbing pedestrians approaching on the street under the guise of wanting to check if they… have tattoos on their necks.

They are three men originally from Albania, aged 21 to 24, who were found guilty of all of the offenses charged and given total prison sentences of 47.5, 39 and 28.5 years (with 20 suspended). In addition, monetary penalties were also imposed on the defendants, with the largest amounting to 82,000 euros. After the court’s decision the three brothers return to prison to serve the rest of their sentence.

According to the indictment, the three young men grabbed money from their victims, chains they wore around their necks and anything of value in their possession, while in order to achieve their purpose they used physical violence and then became “smoke”. The indictment includes more than ten robberies and thefts, while it seems that they acted with two more accomplices. Among other things, in one case it seems that they insulted the sexual orientation of a victim, an act for which they were also convicted.

Two of the accused confessed to their actions while the third did not appear in court and was represented by a lawyer.
