The armed group led by alias ‘Iván Mordisco’ has issued threats against COP16, which will take place in Cali. In a statement through their X account, they urged both national and international delegates not to attend the event, calling it a “fiasco” and warning that they should not attend what they consider a commercial event.
This statement comes four days after they announced a temporary cessation of attacks against public forces from October 11 to November 6, in an apparent gesture of good will in the context of the event. However, with Operation Perseus underway by the Military Forces in El Plateado, Cauca, this group has called into question its commitment to peace.
Operation Perseo, which is carried out in the Micay canyon area, aims to recover territorial and social control of this region, while seeking to secure the area for the development of a hydroelectric megaproject. The dissidents have stated that this action also seeks to guarantee the expansion of the Márquez gang, which, according to them, would be an agreement similar to the one reached between factionalists and General José Luis Ramírez.
