Aamir Khan initially refused to work in this film saying that it was not possible to remake such a film. ‘Lal Singh Chadha’ is a remake of the Hollywood film ‘Forrest Gump’.

The film’s writer Atul Kulkarni told AFP in an interview: ‘It was very difficult. It was not easy at all, as it is a film about a very desi family, which can be watched by people from the age of five to 100 years old, so it was a difficult task to make it in Hindi. It wasn’t easy but I think we did a good job.’

Aamir Khan’s previous film ‘PK’ has echoed the boycott of the film in India based on the alleged desecration of religious rituals.

However, Kulkarni says, ‘It is a beautiful story. About a beautiful country, called India, in the words of a beautiful man named Lal Singh. I would sum up Lal Singh in the same way.’

Elaborating on his point, he said, ‘It is a beautiful story about a beautiful nation, in the words of a beautiful man.’

‘Lal Singh Chadha’ has borrowed the central idea from ‘Forrest Gump’ but has also made many changes to suit the Indian cinema audience and the local culture.

As in a famous Forrest Gump scene in which the protagonist is sitting with a box of chocolates, it has been replaced by a round gape for Lal Singh.
