Threads: keyword search is expanded globally

2023-12-01 00:38:46

A search for keywords/terms is coming to all languages in regions where Threads is supported. As a result, the software’s search section is no longer limited to searching for other accounts, but is also used to search for publications that contain the specified word.

The news was announced by the boss of Instagram (and, consequently, of Threads), Adam Moseri, which highlighted in a microblog post that the company’s objective is to make it easier to find and participate in conversations that are of interest to users.

The search for keywords began to be tested only in some English-speaking countries and was later expanded to other English-speaking countries and to those that have Spanish as their main language, remaining until now restricted to this limited set of markets.

It is possible that the expansion of the resource has something to do with the imminent arrival of Threads in countries that are part of the European Union, which together are home to no less than 24 official languages — not to mention those spoken in a secondary way.

According to the The Wall Street Journalthe app’s arrival in the bloc’s countries will take place in December, but there is still no certainty whether the launch will take place in full or whether the software will only arrive there in a “preview mode”, which would prevent the creation of accounts.

In the same publication in which he announced the expansion of keyword search, Mosseri also made it clear that new features involving searches should arrive on the app soon — which could also mean the arrival of something like the long-awaited trending topics.

The new feature is being rolled out gradually to Threads users, so don’t despair if you still can’t see it on your smartphone.
