Despite being out of breath in recent weeks, the Threads has announced the arrival of new features to go head-to-head with X (formerly Twitter). Now, therefore, Adam Mosserihead of Instagram, announced two new additions.
The first of these is a new tab on users’ profile called “Republications” (“Reposts”, in English); in one place, so you can see all your reposted posts, making it easy to revisit.
The second novelty concerns the arrival of reposts in the “Following” feed (“Following”) — something that, curiously, was not available until then. This can allow certain content to gain more visibility and attention than before.
About two weeks ago, Threads gained tighter integration with Instagram, allowing users to share a post from the social network directly in direct messages (direct messagesor DMs) from its “sister platform”.
The X competitor also gained the ability to add custom alt text to photos and videos embedded in posts, a “mention button” and an option for the user to check his liked posts.
Until it gets a full web version (and preferably desktop clients as well), however, it’s going to be hard to really start taking off.
