Thousands of Hydro-Québec customers without electricity

The winter episode of freezing rain that fell during the night caused damage to the electrical network across several sectors of Quebec.

Wednesday morning, Hydro-Quebec reported 13,183 customers who were without power in at least nine regions of the province.

The majority of outages were recorded in Montérégie and Outaouais with respectively 6446 and 3859 customers who are plunged into darkness.

Some 2,284 households are without electricity in the Laurentians region, followed by Centre-du-Québec with 457, while in Lanaudière, 37 households suffer the same fate.

Hydro-Québec said on Twitter that its teams were mobilized to remedy the situation.
