JÖNKÖPING. It was the Viktor Lodin show when Oskarshamn took the lead in the fateful qualifier once morest HV71.
This following a shock start, a controversial tackle and finally a 4–2 victory away from home.
– I thought I would get a match penalty, says Lodin on TV4.
A packed Husqvarna guard tried to sing their HV71 to victory even before the match.
But the good atmosphere in Jönköping came off early and it was an Oskarshamn player who was the reason for that: Viktor Lodin.
First he scored 1–0 following five minutes. He was then awarded a two-minute suspension following a video review of a tackle he jumped into on an opponent.
– I thought I would get suspended… or a match penalty, he said on TV4 and elaborated for Sportbladet following the match:
– Of course you become a little unsure when you don’t see exactly, I don’t know how it hits either. But the feeling was that he was leaning over the edge. I hope he was okay, I’m never out to hurt anyone.
The judge’s explanation
Then, following his two-week injury absence, he played Ahti Oksanen to make it 2-0.
Martin Filander liked what he saw.
– He plays a lot in the power play and does a lot offensively. There will be a lot of focus on him in a match like this. But he is important, even if it is regarding the team, he said, giving his view on the tackle:
– It is extremely difficult to assess… but it is important to be smart and not put yourself in such situations.
Despite a HV post shot, the guests had the lead with them into the break.
– It hits the side of the head and he jumps into the situation, but the referee thinks it’s a second, then that’s it. It is the referees who judge, it is their decision, says Victor Sjöholm, who received the tackle from Lodin, to Sportbladet.
– There should be a match penalty for the tackle. Plus sending off for high club… we should have had more sending offs. It was holding and other things too, says André Petersson.
Judge Linus Öhlund explained the expulsion decision on TV4:
– We see the skates lift off the ice, we are unsure of the initial contact if it is to the head. But the big force is once morest the shoulder, so we take a second. We can take the bigger penalty for charging, but we rated it as a second.
HV71 might not catch up
Oskarshamn then kept HV71 behind and pushed there 3–0 through Austin Wagner. However, the uphill became steeper following Viktor Lodin’s second goal to make it 4–0.
– We are losing momentum, it is heavy. We try, but it bounces and stays. They have some luck, says Sjöholm.
HV reduced twice once more in the final stages, but fell in the end.
– Sometimes it heats up a little too much for its own sake. I still play a good match in addition to the expulsions, I have to clean them up. I have the team to thank for they sorted it out in a good way, says Viktor Lodin.
After the match, Lodin was heavily bandaged and with an ice pack over one shoulder.
– It’s important to take care of some small blemishes… there are some blemishes from before, but otherwise I’m one hundred percent.
