John Christian Elden, legal aid for Amundsen’s children, has sent what he describes as an administrative claim against the Norwegian Directorate of Labor and Welfare. The letter is also a notice of legal action, writes Bergens Tidende.
The claim from the four children is based both on physical safety and that the Working Environment Act was breached.
– Nav could, and should, have implemented several measures to prevent the attack and the serious consequences of this for Marianne Amundsen and her survivors, the letter states.
The letter mentions a report the Norwegian Labor Inspection Authority made at the Nav office after the murder, in which violations and deviations were detected.
– Their main point is that Nav must take responsibility as an employer and not risk putting others in the same unprotected situation as their mother, says Elden to BT.
Elden writes that a lawsuit can be avoided if Nav accepts responsibility for violations of employees’ human rights.
– The krone amount is not central to them, but that the state takes responsibility.
Mother-of-four Marianne Amundsen (57) was killed at work at Nav Årstad in autumn 2021. A man in his 40s has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for the murder and for the attempted murder of a colleague of Amundsen.
