The municipality of Thônex has decided to terminate the “local security contract”, a device which governs its collaboration with the Geneva police. This pact supposed to set common objectives and coordinate the action of municipal and cantonal law enforcement agencies was signed in 2018, recalls the “Geneva Tribune», Which relays the information. The Municipality considers that this tool ultimately complicates the task of agents in the field, in particular creating a significant bureaucracy in order to produce statistics. Thônex is currently the only municipality to have withdrawn from this program.
