THE Indonesian TEAM is ready to fight at the 2024 Thomas & Uber Cup which will take place in Chengdu, China, Saturday (27/4). Team manager and Head of PP PBSI Development and Achievement Division Ricky Soebagdja ensured that the Red and White badminton players were in top condition and ready to fight.
“So far, until the last training before the match starts tomorrow, we are grateful that everyone has carried out the training program well. I advise you to continue to maintain your condition and health,” said Ricky.
“In terms of readiness, all athletes are ready to compete,” he added.
The Thomas Indonesia team started their opening match in Crup C once morest England while the Uber team faced Hong Kong. Indonesia, which on paper is the favorite, will not take its opponent lightly. The Indonesian team must also appear solid.
“Certainly the selection (of players) is based on who is most prepared technically and non-technically, we will also calculate meeting records and other requirements. Whoever plays tomorrow will be the best,” said Ricky.
“Because this is a team tournament, teamwork must be solid, whoever is fielded must have full support from everyone,” added Ricky.

Team captains Fajar Alfian and Apriyani Rahayu also focused their colleagues on maintaining unity. Fajar believes that the Thomas Indonesia team has the opportunity to win the title once more.
“With cooperation and unity, I think there is a chance. Both in singles and doubles, our strengths are evenly distributed. We are ready to fight whoever is chosen to play,” said Fajar.
“We on the Uber team will give our best once morest Hong Kong tomorrow. We will use all the abilities we have,” continued Apri.
Non-technical factors, namely mental factors, also continue to be prepared. According to the 2024 Paris Olympic ad hoc team psychologist coordinator, Lilik Sudarwati, who was part of the team, positive energy continues to be provided for the athletes. The psychologist team also tries to make the players relax before the match.
“So our team of psychologists tries to instill positive energy to increase team cohesion. We also prepare the children to appear more relaxed. Whether it’s first singles, first doubles, second singles and so on, they have the same burden and have an equally important role too,” Lilik said. (Dhk/Z-7)
