LASK said goodbye to a veteran: Thomas Goiginger is moving to Osnabrück. The 30-year-old had already taken part in the German second division team’s morning training when the two clubs announced the transfer.
“I’m eager to help the team in this difficult situation,” said Goiginger regarding his first posting abroad. After 19 rounds, Osnabrück is ten points short of a relegation place. The winger is supposed to enliven the weakest offensive in the second Bundesliga with 16 goals.

Goiginger recently only played a supporting role at LASK. In 18 competitive appearances he scored four goals and provided two assists. He never allowed himself to be hanged. He has decided “that I want the team and the Boys support as best as possible and give it my all in every training session. That’s what I demand of myself – then I can’t blame myself,” he said in September.
“He is an absolute professional. He always gave everything for the club and the team,” said sports director Radovan Vujanovic when he said goodbye to Goiginger six months before his contract ended. “Thomas will always remain part of the LASK family.”

In 2017, Goiginger moved from Blau-Weiß Linz to LASK. After an initial period, he won a regular place and stormed into the national team. In November 2019, he was on the ball for the only time in the ÖFB team during the European Championship qualification in Latvia. After 242 competitive appearances with 58 goals and 56 assists, his time at LASK ended.
