President Joko Widodo is reported to be inaugurating Thomas Djiwandono as Deputy Minister of Finance (Wamenkeu) on Thursday (18/7) followingnoon. Thomas is a member of the Prabowo-Gibran Synchronization Task Force Team for Economics and Finance. He is also the nephew of president-elect Prabowo Subianto.
The news of Thomas’ inauguration was confirmed by the Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.
Quoted from the official Gerindra website, Thomas Djiwandono was born in Jakarta, May 7, 1972. He is the first child of the couple Soedradjad Djiwandono and Biantiningsih Miderawati.
His father is a former governor of Bank Indonesia. Meanwhile, his mother is the older sister of president-elect Prabowo Subianto.
In terms of career, Thomas was an intern journalist at Tempo Magazine in 1993 and at Indonesia Business Weekly in 1994. He also worked as a financial analyst at Whetlock NatWest Securities, Hong Kong.
In 2006, his uncle, Hashim Djojohadikusumo asked Thomas to help at Arsari Group, an agribusiness company. At Arsari Group, Thomas served as Deputy CEO.
While in the world of politics, he was involved in the Gerindra Party. Thomas was also once a legislative candidate in West Kalimantan Province. Now he is the General Treasurer of the Gerindra Party founded by his uncle, Prabowo Subianto. (Z-11)
