Thodupuzha: Preparations for the Sabarimala Makaravilak Mahotsav are in the final stage. A team led by Idukki Collector Sheeba George and District Police Chief TK Vishnu Pradeep visited the grassland. Makaravilak is on Monday.
Arrangements have been made for darshan at Pullumedu, Parunthumpara and Panchalimedu in the district. An ambulance and medical team will be available at intervals of two kilometers from Vallakadav to Pullumedu.
Drinking water facilities will also be provided at an interval of one kilometer. Construction of security barricade of Public Works Department has reached the final stage. The water authority will set up water tanks at Uppupara and Pullumedu Kozhikanam. Fire department has also been set up at six points. A 14 km light system from Kozhikode to Pullumedu and a lightning protection system has been prepared at Pullumedu.
Notifications will be given to devotees in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages. KSRTC will run 65 bus services from Kumali till 1 pm. Devotees can enter through Vallakadav check post till 2 pm. No one will be allowed to go to Sabarimala after Makara Lak darshan.
The services of 1400 police personnel will also be made available. More devotees are expected this time than last time. Due to that, various departments are making elaborate arrangements.
