Thodoros Skylakakis: From April 1, the regulation for rural electricity comes into force – The benefits for farmers 2024-03-15 23:34:37

Thodoros Skylakakis characterized it as absolutely necessary for the productive capacity of the country in the coming years, describing in detail the benefits that the farmers, who will join this arrangement, will get. The most important of these include securing lower electricity prices in the medium to long term and settling their overdue debts. The relevant regulation will come into force from April 1.

The amendment refers to energy cost reduction measures to promote the primary and secondary sectors. This is done by connecting the said RES units to the networks with absolute priority.

For overdue debts until 31/12/2023, interest-free settlement is provided, as the State undertakes to pay the interest to the suppliers, while absolute priority is provided for RES that will supply energy-intensive industries.

The measures were recently announced and are mainly based on bilateral long-term (minimum ten-year) contracts for the supply of electricity to rural consumers.
