This year’s pink ribbon is being torn out of the shops

– It is being torn off the shop shelves, and in our own online shop it has been sold out. We are constantly working to bring in more, but in a short time it will be sold out again, says general secretary Ingrid Stenstadvold Ross of the Cancer Society.

This year it is jewelery designer Cathrine Børter behind the jewelery brand Pearl Octopuss.y who has designed the bow. Børter himself has a personal relationship with cancer. Her mother has had breast cancer.

– Fortunately, it went well with mum. The bow I have made is a tribute to all those affected by the disease, and it is very nice that so many people like it, she says.

This is the eleventh year in a row that a designer has designed the bow.

– We keep hearing about places that are empty. These records are on a whole new level. This means so much, because every single bow contributes to breast cancer research, says Ross.

Every year in October, people in many countries wear pink ribbons to show their support for breast cancer victims. The income from the sale goes to research.

In Norway, almost 60,000 people live with a diagnosis of breast cancer. Over 25 years, the Pink Ribbon campaign in Norway has contributed NOK 465 million to the breast cancer cause, among other things through the sale of the ribbon, according to the Cancer Society.
