Who owns Single Person’s Benefit?

It is awarded to single people of pensionable age and single adults or emancipated minors with disabilities, who have a participation rate of 55 percent or less (working capacity level until December 31, 2023; recognized as I, II or III until July 1, 2005 groups with disabilities).

People of retirement age or single people with disabilities must meet the following conditions:

  • live in Lithuania,
  • to be single (not to be in Lithuania or a foreign country after entering into a marriage or if the marriage has ended),
  • if the person is a widower or widower – neither in Lithuania nor in a foreign country can they receive a widow’s pension or benefit in case of widowhood (loss of a breadwinner).

How is it prescribed? To all persons to whom the single person’s allowance belongs, Sodra allocates it automatically, without a separate application. A single person’s benefit is granted from the day the person meets the conditions for receiving the benefit.

Is it given to those who receive a widow’s pension? A person who has been assigned a social insurance widow’s pension, a state widow’s pension or receives a periodical pension-type benefit from a foreign country in the event of widowhood (loss of a breadwinner), the single person’s benefit will be awarded only if he refuses the widowhood benefit he receives.

How is it delivered? A single person’s allowance is paid every month. It is delivered in the same way as a pension – to a bank account, to your home or for collection at Lithuanian Post offices.

The payment of the benefit is terminated if the person leaves Lithuania or gets married.

Neither the single person’s benefit nor the widow’s pension affects other monthly benefits or compensations that are due to a person under other laws, cash social support or payment for social services.
