Kruidvat stops selling disposable plastic bags! The drugstore chain wants with this new measure to encourage its customers to bring their own bags. From next week, it will therefore no longer be possible to obtain them at the Belgian Kruidvat checkout.
The chain of stores advises its customers to bring their own bags. Those who wish will be able to purchase a more durable bag (Cabas) from next week. “This bag will be made of 90 percent recycled plastic, part of which is from marine waste,” announces the brand, which will be able to avoid 15 million disposable plastic bags each year, or two truckloads.
“By calling on customers to bring their own bag as much as possible, we are taking another step towards a more sustainable future,” said Ed van de Weerd, CEO of AS Watson Health & Beauty Benelux. “Our mission is to help our customers feel good, beautiful and healthy. A clean and healthy Earth is part of this approach. By asking the five million customers who call on us every week to bring their own bags into our stores, we are contributing to a better world, with less plastic waste. For those who forgot their bag or need an extra bag, we are launching a tote bag that is both more durable and reusable. »
The bag sold by Kruidvat will be available from next week in all stores at a price of 0.99 euros per unit.
