The historic Bay Bridge Series between the San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics will play its final games on Saturday and Sunday as the Athletics play another six weeks in Oakland.

No matter how good or bad both teams were, there was always something special about the San Francisco Giants-Oakland Athletics game, which became known as the Bay Bridge Series. It all reminds me of Giants-A 1989 World SeriesAs we all know, the third game was interrupted by the Loma Prieta earthquake. The Athletics and Giants had never played before, and it wasn’t until the International League began in 1997 that MLB engineered these regional rivalries that had never existed before.

Since then, the A’s and Giants Played 146 times in the regular seasonAccording to Bay Area News Group. (The Athletics lead the series 75-71.) But Saturday and Sunday will be the last time San Francisco plays Oakland, as this weekend will be Giants play in Oakland for last timeAs The Athletic reminds us.

Oh sure, the Giants and Athletics will play again. But A’s will be next season for the sacramento athletics (Although this is a huge insult to Sacramento, they will Abbreviated as “A” There’s no Sacramento in their nickname). Then they’re said to be moving to Las Vegas in 2028, but we’ll see if their proposed Las Vegas ballpark actually ends up being built.

Both games this week are on the road for the Giants at the Oakland Coliseum. Saturday’s game is at 4:07 p.m. and Sunday afternoon’s game is at 1:07 p.m. Tickets for both games currently range from $53 to $170 on the official MLB website, and third-party resellers may offer better (or worse) discounts.

This wasn’t a particularly epic Bay Bridge series finale. Both teams are ten or more games below .500 and have little chance of even making the wild-card round. Although this final San Francisco Giants-Oakland Athletics matchup may have had one historically accurate fact: The Giants were coached by Bob Melvin, the only man to coach both since their first meeting. Former head coach with the San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics.
