Venezuelan swimmer Alfonso Mestre was the first athlete to represent the country. He placed sixth in his 400-meter freestyle heat with a time of 3:48.20. This put him in 19th place in the overall standings and he was unable to qualify for the final of this event.

Mestre will have a new opportunity to win a medal for the country in the 800-meter freestyle competition, which will take place on Monday, July 29.

Details of the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

The Venezuelan delegation waved the country’s flag as it passed along the Seine River in the opening parade of the Olympic Games. In a video shared by the Venezuelan Olympic Committee (COV) You can see the athletes boarding the boat that takes them on the journey along the river.

The athletes who will represent the country in the Olympic competition were seen on the boat.
