HP has just announced its brand new Dragonfly G3 EliteBook. Behind this extended name hides a very promising technical sheet.
Intel presented its brand new collection of Alder Lake processors for laptops, with three families of hybrid processors. HP was quick to present its latest ultrabook, EliteBook Dragonfly G3, which uses an Intel Alder Lake vPro processor. But that’s not its only asset. It does everything you would expect from an ultrabook.
A solid technical sheet
Let’s start the article by giving you all its features: the new HP Elite Dragonfly G3 has a 13.5-inch screen, several 12th generation Intel Core processors (Alder Lake), up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 memory, up to 2TB PCIe NVMe M.2, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, 4G LTE and 5G, fingerprint reader, backlit keyboard, HDMI 2.0 output, one headphone output, one USB 3.1 Type-A port and two USB Type-C (Thunderbolt 4) ports. In short, it has a very solid technical sheet.
An OLED screen with a 3: 2 ratio
Now that the scenery is set, let’s take a look at a few points: first, the screen has a 3: 2 display ratio, knowing that 16: 9 is the most common, it is a much more suitable format for productivity. It makes it possible to display taller windows, and even to display more easily two windows side by side.
Then you have two choices: an IPS LCD WUXGA + display (1920 x 1280 pixels) or an OLED display (3000 x 2000 pixels), which is also touch-sensitive with a maximum brightness of 400 nits. The OLED display is very interesting, but obviously it will only be available on the most expensive configuration.
Light weight and increased strength
Finally, this laptop is also compact and light: less than 1 kilogram with two different finishes, to choose from, in magnesium or aluminum. Despite this small weight, we also find the military certification MIL-STD-810H, which guarantees a certain strength but also the protection of the keyboard once morest coffee. It also has a backlit keyboard, a backlit trackpad as well, four speakers designed by Bang & Olufsen, a 5 megapixel selfie camera that can film in Full HD with two associated microphones …
5G as an option
From a performance standpoint, it is powered by Intel’s 12th generation Alder Lake vPro processors and is certified to Intel Evo standards. The laptop also offers optional 4G LTE or 5G WWAN connectivity, with a microSIM slot. This allows you to connect on the go without having to worry regarding internet access or connection sharing.
This HP EliteBook Dragonfly G3 appears to be a very complete ultrabook on paper. It will be necessary to check if this small weight does not generate an average autonomy. In short, HP has not communicated an availability date or price, however it is a very promising ultraportable that we are eager to test.
