This Toyota Hilux took the ‘retro’ front of an eighties Land Cruiser. How does it look?

The 2023 Tokyo Autoshow continues to reveal curiosities, such as a modified Toyota Hilux that looks like a Land Cruiser.

to remember the old Toyota Land Cruiser J60 y J80 you just have to see thisthe Toyota Hilux modification presented at the 2023 edition of the Tokyo Motor Show. Starting from a body kit, the pick-up now has a retro look.

The modifications focused on the front end of the vehicle and to offer more options to customers, Axell Auto, the company in charge of the conversion, has three adaptations available. Your retro-faced Hilux, may be standard, high-rider and low-rider.

From the front, the vehicle is virtually unrecognizable and with the added equipment, it doesn’t look anything like the normal pick-up either. What was not revealed, were the prices, but for the high detail of the finishes and designwe bet that it won’t be cheap.

A strange looking Toyota Hilux

This Toyota Hilux conversion is not something you would expect to see every day. The front of the vehicle was modified to incorporate a Rectangular grill with horizontal grooves. The main headlights go in line, with a square design and rectangular explorers.

The bumper, also retro-looking, sports a chrome finish. The wheels are 17 inches in the standard version, but they vary in the modification of high suspension and low suspension. There are differences between the three in terms of exterior color and accessories.

For example, the urban van (low) dubbed “Lowdown” by the preparation company, it has a set of Yokohama Advan Sport tires and a rear bed cover that can be raised to carry larger items.

Meanwhile, the high version or “HighLift” focuses on off-road activities. Aside from the raised suspension, it adds a additional LED light bar on the front bumper, all-terrain tires and a roof top tent which is accessed by a side staircase.
