The year 2021 had in store for us some very good animated films, For example The Mitchell’s once morest the machines. However, it was a relatively limited year for the studios d’animation Pixar, who have released only one film, Luca. But for 2022, the famous studios have already prepared several films for us, some of which were originally due to be released on the big screen.
hard blow for moviegoers
Because with the global health crisis, the studios producing and distributing the films had to adapt to cope with the closure of cinemas, thus giving all the more priority to streaming platforms as a means of distribution. Like Soul and Luca, two previous Pixar films that went directly to Disney + during the COVID-19 pandemic.
While for the moment, the next spin-off of Toy Story, entitled Buzz Lightning, is still scheduled to hit theaters in June 2022, Unexpected news has arisen regarding the upcoming Pixar animated film. While the film Red alert was originally scheduled to be released in our theaters in March of this year, Disney has chosen not to release it in theaters, but to broadcast it only on Disney +.

a timid recovery
Red alert tells us the story of Meilin Lee, a 13-year-old girl who suddenly sees herself transformed into a giant red panda when she lets herself be overwhelmed by her emotions. As reported Variety, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution President Kareem Daniel said in a statement:
Disney + subscribers around the world have enthusiastically embraced “Soul”, Pixar’s Oscar-winning film, and critically acclaimed “Luca” when they were premiered on the service, and we look forward to hearing from you. Introduce them to Pixar’s incredible next feature film, “Red Alert”. Given the delayed box office recovery, especially for family films, flexibility remains at the heart of our distribution decisions as we prioritize delivering the unparalleled content of The Walt Disney Company to audiences around the world. .

The director of the animated film, Domee Shi, made a name for himself in this role thanks to the short film Bag, and here directs her first feature film as a director with Red alert. Available March 11, 2022 on Disney +, it will be the 25th film produced by Pixar, but also the first Pixar film to be directed solely by a woman.
