Asunción, IP Agency.- This Sunday, October 6, the time change takes place in Paraguay, moving the clocks forward 60 minutes. In this way, the usual adaptation to summer time is carried out, which could be of definitive use for the country based on a law approved in Congress.
On the first Sunday in October, the adjustment is made to the official time of the Republic of Paraguay, established in UTC-3 for the summer, according to presidential decree 3638 in force since 2009.
For this reason, starting at midnight this Sunday, October 6, the official time must be advanced by 60 minutes throughout the national territory. This schedule was again adjusted to winter time on the last Sunday in March.
However, due to a law recently approved by Congress, this may be the last time this adjustment is made, since daylight saving time would be definitive for the country, as established by regulations.
The proposal was sanctioned by both chambers of the National Congress and was sent to the Executive Branch for its promulgation or veto.
If the law is approved, through an Executive decree, Paraguay will have -3 GMT as its time throughout the year, the same time that applies in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and some states of Brazil.
“The persistence or permanence of summer time favors security conditions within our country, because there is better use of the sun during afternoon hours,” said the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Raúl Latorre.
