In the last few hours, four bodies were found on the road that leads to the municipality of Puerto Lleras, in the vicinity of the El Caribe village located 20 minutes from the town center, in the department of Meta.
The victims, who would be men between the ages of 20 and 30, they would have apparent signs of torture and bullet wounds. So far the identities are unknown, according to the authorities.
The first investigations indicate that the victims apparently did not reside in the area. “The competent authorities They carry out all the acts of recognition to find out who these young people were, who were found with briefcases with hammocks in rubber boots”, detailed Hernán Gómez Niño, secretary of the Government of Meta.
One of the victims, apparently, had recently regained his freedom after extortion and illegal possession of weapons. In addition to this, the aggressors allegedly left a poster on the bodies, which read: “for being lazy and wanting easy money”; for which it is presumed that this crime could be related to a settling of scores between criminal gangs.
For its part, the Institute of Studies for Development and Peace (Indepaz), indicated that “the bodies of these people were found with signs of violence. So far the identity of the victims is not known, only that they would be young people between 20 and 25 years old.
Likewise, the organization pointed out that this would be the 80th massacre recorded in the country so far this year and that the Ombudsman’s Office had issued AT 049/19, “which indicates that the scenario of risk of violations of the rights of the populations residing in the jurisdictions of the municipalities of Puerto Rico, Puerto Lleras and Vista Hermosa it is determined by the violent mechanisms of social control imposed by the armed actors,” said Indenpaz.
And he added that this would be a consequence of the “purposes of obtaining income, said actors have imposed violent mechanisms of social control on the population.”
After this macabre discovery, the authorities convened an extraordinary security council for all measures regarding the wave of violence that is being experienced in Puerto Lleras where, in addition, several selective homicides have been recorded.
As it was known, this fact could be related to a dispute between criminal structures, specifically andBetween alias ‘Juanito’ and the FARC dissidents that operate in the area. Likewise, in this region there is a presence of the Gaitanista self-defense groups of Colombia or Clan del Golfo and fronts 1 and 7 of the FARC dissidents.
This crime is added to the registry 15 days ago also in Puerto Lleras, where a man and a woman were also killed with a firearm. “Unfortunately, all these issues are related more to common crime than to groups outside the law.”, said Ana María Guevara Guerrero, representative of Puerto Lleras.
Given this unfortunate event, the representative to the Chamber for Bogotá, Sergio Marín, called on the competent authorities to reinforce security in the territories and guarantee the tranquility of the communities.
“Four young people murdered in the Vereda El Caribe, in the municipality of Puerto Lleras, Meta. Their bodies were found with signs of violence. This is alarming! Stop the massacres in the country. Colombia deserves peace.” the representative said through his Twitter account.
The four bodies were transferred to the Legal Medicine morgue of the municipality of Granada.
