The captaincy of the Port of Barranquilla issued a warning to be vigilant regarding the transit that the tropical wave will carry out, which very possibly will become a tropical storm in the next few hours when it enters the waters of the Colombian Caribbean Sea and that upon reaching the San Andrés archipelago it might be a hurricane.
“To the north of the Caribbean, a tropical wave phenomenon is occurring, which has the potential to transform, on Thursday night and tomorrow, Friday, into a tropical storm passing through the north of La Guajira. This phenomenon is going to bring rains and an increase in the winds and when moving west through the Caribbean Sea also an increase in the waves”He said Navy Captain Jesus Andres Zambrano Pinzon, Captain of the Port of Barranquilla.
The captain stated thatthe captaincies of Puerto Bolívar, Riohacha, Santa Marta have issued statements to inform the maritime community regarding the measures that must be taken to protect human life in the sea and navigation”.
Regarding the navigability in the Atlantic, he indicated that until now, everything is normal, but he asked the community to stay informed in the event of a possible change.
“Particularly for the department of Atlántico we do not have a restriction. The navigability conditions in the access channel to the Port of Barranquilla and the beaches remain unobserved. We are going to have to be very attentive to the increase in rains due to this phenomenon,” accurate.
