This new SMS scam is wreaking havoc, the gendarmes are issuing the alert

It’s one more new scam which is the subject of our article. Once once more, the Objeko team would like to alert you to the risk you run if you own a mobile phone. In fact, individuals proceed by text message. Without further ado, we give you all the useful information to protect yourself from this new scam which is claiming many victims.

Scammers make contact by SMS

You may have already received this type of SMS. You might think it comes from theNational Agency for Automated Infringement Processing (ANTAI). But this is not the case. Again, scammers impersonate identities to deceive their victims. And in this message sent to cell phones, they tell you that you have a late payment of a fine. The scam consists of encouraging victims to regularize their situation by consulting their offense file.

So there is an Internet link in this SMS. As you can imagine, you must not please don’t click on this address. Namely that this scam has been circulating en masse in recent weeks. Malicious individuals regularly manage to deceive their victims, the police warn us on social networks. These alerts were broadcast in several regions of France. Among them: the North, Vienne and Finistère.

Another scam that calls for vigilance

Unfortunately, this scam that alerts you to a late payment of 35 euros is not alone. Many other text messages of this type are currently circulating. In February, the gendarmes of Vienne communicated on these scams through social networks. Besides the false message from ANTAI, text messages evoke the Crit’air sticker and the fuel allowance. Again, you are prompted to click on links that eventually allow crooks to retrieve your personal data and gain access to your bank account.

However, the police keep reminding us: no French administration asks for passwords or bank details by text, email or telephone. You must never reveal this information via these different modes of communication. If in doubt, do not hesitate to contact the administration in question for answers. If it is a scam, report it immediately to limit the number of future victims as much as possible.

A single website to pay fines

Concerning this message which is, supposedly, sent to you by the National Agency for the Automated Processing of Offences, know that there is onlyone and only website to pay his fines. This is www.amendes.gouv.fr. If you are offered another address, you can be sure that it is an attempt at fraud.

With this information, you can’t be fooled. If you receive this message and think you may be subject to a fine for speeding, for example, immediately check the Internet link on which you are asked to click.
