This new humanoid robot resists all forms of aggression

The Chinese manufacturer Unitree is launching its first humanoid robot, capable of moving and carrying heavy loads in complete autonomy. Even more original, he keeps his balance and remains imperturbable even when he is jostled. Enough to compete with the most sophisticated American robots?

The Unitree H1 is presented as the very first human-sized humanoid robot capable of running and lifting heavy loads produced in China. It stands out for its stable gait and its very flexible movement capabilities, including on uneven terrain. Even stronger, it would resist attacks, such as an attack on the back or various shocks to the limbs. Even if mistreated, he would never lose his stability or deviate from his original task.

The Unitree H1 is 1.80 m tall and weighs 47 kg. It moves autonomously and naturally, whether walking or running, can carry and handle heavy loads and thus carry out, in theory, relatively complex tasks. Its multiple sensors and cameras allow it to interact with its environment and in particular to avoid obstacles. Another advantage, and not the least, its code is open-source, which means that developers can create their own dedicated applications. This robot should be marketed in early 2024 for the equivalent of 150,000 dollars (or approximately 139,000 euros).

On paper, the Unitree H1 is in line with Atlas, from Boston Dynamics, or Optimus, from Tesla, two ambitious American projects intended to one day fulfill human logistical tasks. But other Chinese players are also in the race, like Xiaomi which, for its part, is working on a robot capable of recognizing individuals as well as their expressions and emotions. Combined with artificial intelligence, all of them might one day interact with humans.
