To support presbyopia, which usually appears around the age of 40 to 45, wearing glasses or contact lenses is necessary. It is also possible to use the refractive surgery.

What if a simple eye drop might correct presbyopia? If this idea seems utopian, it is nevertheless a reality: an American company has developed eye drops to treat presbyopia. It is already available by prescription in pharmacies in the United States.

This revolutionary eye drops called Vuity was designed by the company Allergan, which belongs to the AbbVie group. It contains pilocarpine, a substance already used in the treatment of glaucoma, as well as a technology created by Allergan, called pHast. This eye drops “uses the eye’s own ability to reduce the size of the pupil, thus improving near and intermediate vision while maintaining distance vision”, can we read in a press release.
