Unsurprisingly, all three Trapp children have been involved in sports throughout their lives and have been selected by universities to play volleyball or basketball.

The beginning of a worldwide recognition

In December 2020, the family visited Dr. Anna Sudoh, orthopedic physician at Essentia Health, to be measured. Each limb was measured three times during the day, standing up and lying down. The average was used to calculate their size. After fulfilling all the criteria to qualify for the famous record, the Trapps were delighted to learn that they now hold the title of the tallest family in the world.

For the Trapps, this worldwide recognition is a compensation for the disadvantages associated with their large size. Indeed, their size has often been a source of difficulty, including the pain felt because of their speed of growth.

The Trapp family adapts to its environment

The Trapps realized early on that they were exceptionally tall compared to the people around them. They eventually got used to the comments and stares of the public, their size eventually drawing attention to them wherever they went. They also learned to embrace their size and use it to start conversations and educate people.

On a day-to-day basis, the Trapp family faces worries that average people don’t know. For example, they have difficulty driving because of their long legs, and they also have to bend over every time they go through a door. But still there are some advantages like not needing a ladder to do any work around the house.

Either way, the Trapp family members say they support each other and hope their record height will inspire people who are physically different or who feel different.
