Gerhard Hofer-Schwarz, known to everyone as “Gatsch”, has become an integral part of the jumping circus.
Strolling through the work rooms in the Hotel Schönleitn on Lake Faak, we were recently reminded of the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. We followed a noise to the farthest corner of the house and lo and behold: met Gerhard Hofer-Schwarz. The man, who goes by the name “Gatsch”, is not exactly inconspicuous because of his appearance, has a long beard and is a self-confessed tattoo fan. Of course, he wasn’t sitting at a spindle, but at two sewing machines. Hofer-Schwarz is a materials technician for the Austrian women’s ski jumpers and sews the jump suits…
