The Academy Awards producer announced that Los Angeles police were on site and ready to arrest Will Smith last Sunday for slapping host Chris Rock.
Producer Will Packer added that authorities took no action because Rock declined to press charges, which a police spokesperson confirmed on Sunday.
“They said we’re going to arrest him,” Packer said, in excerpts from an interview that will be broadcast on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Friday. We’re ready. We are ready to bring him now.”
“Rock was very dismissive of those options,” Packer added. He was saying ‘No, no, no, I’m fine’. I told him ‘Rock, let them finish.’ Rock’s representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
