More than 11 years following Prince William’s marriage to Kate Middleton, Prince William was not seen wearing a wedding ring, because only Kate received a ring.
St James’s Palace confirmed a full month before the royal wedding in April 2011 that William would not receive a ring. The decision is simply a matter of personal preference, according to close sources.
A palace insider revealed at the time: “William is not a fan of jewellery, has never worn any, and has decided he doesn’t want to wear a ring. It’s all down to personal preference.”
It is known that Kate supports William’s decision not to wear the ring, but she wears a wedding ring herself alongside her sapphire engagement ring, which previously belonged to Princess Diana.
