Marcel Kaiser, coach of Al Jazira (Abu Dhabi Pride), pledged that his team would prove its combativeness when it collided with Sharjah (Al King) once more.
The two sides met during the past few days at the top of the 18th round of the ADNOC Professional League, where Abu Dhabi pride emerged victorious, 3-2.
Al-Jazira will be a guest for the second consecutive match at the “Sharjah Stadium”, where it will play the quarter-final match of the President’s Cup once morest the King.
Kaiser said, “We proved (in the last match) that we are able to fight to get back in the score following conceding an early goal, and that we are also able to fight in order to maintain our lead until the final whistle.”
The Dutch coach promised, “We will show (in the upcoming match) that we are ready to fight for qualification to the next round of an important tournament.”
Kaiser denied his team’s thinking in its previous confrontation once morest Sharjah, noting, “We completely forgot our victory, and directed our focus completely towards the decisive match once morest the same opponent.”
The 54-year-old was asked regarding the effects of Abu Dhabi Pride’s victory over the king in the league match at the expected summit between them in the “most expensive cups”.
Kaiser replied, “I don’t think that the previous result will have any effect on the next confrontation, as it is a different match in a completely different tournament.”
The retired midfielder warned, “The margin of error will be less in the cup match, so we must work to avoid the mistakes we made at the top of the league. We know that we are required to focus fully throughout the match, and take advantage of the opportunities that come to it in order to be the winning and qualified party.”
Kaiser praised Sharjah, stressing, “It is one of the best teams in the league, and it will want to reach the semi-finals and defend its title with all its might.”
