Hamm – Mold, non-maintenance of cold chains and botched kebab meat: These deficiencies were discovered during an inspection in several “Haus des Döners” branches in Dortmund, Essen, Duisburg and Cologne.
“I was embarrassed”: Hammer owner about the “Haus des Döners” incident in North Rhine-Westphalia
A store of the franchise chain also opened in Hamm a few months ago. Owner Selahattin Demirbas makes it clear that she is definitely not affected by the defects. “We pay attention to hygiene and cold chains,” he says. “There are always checks from the health department and the franchise chain itself.” It is never good when defects occur. “Even though I have nothing to do with those affected, it was embarrassing for me.” Demirbas himself puts a lot of heart into his shop.
He says: “You can’t lump all the branches together.” The deficiencies in the other branches have now been remedied. In his opinion, these were isolated cases. “In addition, this does not only happen in the catering industry, but also in supermarkets and the like. By reporting on just a few branches, the problem is passed on directly to everyone.” The chain would have warned once again to adhere to the regulations. “We all want to achieve the best result.”
