After the death of drummer of the band Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins, in a hotel in Bogotá this Friday night, the Colombian Ministry of Health issued a statement explaining how the situation was handled.
“The city’s Regulatory Center for Urgencies and Emergencies received a report regarding a patient with chest pain in a hotel located north of the city,” said the entity.
The entity added that it sent an ambulance to attend to the case. “However, upon arrival of the teams from the Ministry of Health, there was a mobile phone for consultation from the EMI company. The health professional who attended the emergency indicated that she performed the respective resuscitation maneuvers; however, there was no response and the patient was declared deceased.”
Subsequently, the authorities in charge carried out the removal of the body and carried out the investigations required for this type of case.
“The District Department of Health mourns the death of this talented musician and drummer, widely recognized internationally for his work. In addition, the entity sends its message of condolences to the family, colleagues and followers, “said the entity.
A preliminary police report indicated that “the cause of death is yet to be established, according to versions of relatives, the death might be associated with the consumption of narcotic substances.”
According to first versions, Hawkins had chest pain and then staff from the Casa Medina hotel called the emergency service, but when the doctors arrived in the ambulance, the artist had already died.
The mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, also referred to the event: «The world of music and Bogotá are in mourning for the death of the great Taylor Hawkins. To his family and friends, to the Foo Fighters and to all his followers our hugs and condolences».
