The BOE has already revealed what the new cost of this precious resource will be
Until now, the cost was 14.43 euros. This increase marks the first upward revision following six consecutive downward adjustmentsalthough always within the limits established by the Government of Spain.
The new price will remain until the third Tuesday of January 2024, when a new review will be carried out. Although the price cap imposed by the Government ends on December 31, 2023, if not extended, next year’s review might be the first without this limit, which might affect the economy of Spanish households in a time of inflation.
The Official State Gazette has announced the update of the price of the butane cylinder for the next two months, establishing it at 15.14 euros, which represents an increase of 5%.
As of November 21, the price of the 12.5 kg butane cylinder will include transportation costs to the consumer’s home. The increase in this revision is mainly attributed to the increase in the price of raw materials (8.3%), freight (26.6%), and the depreciation of the euro once morest the dollar by 3.3% in recent two months.
Although the new price does not reach the historical maximum of 19.55 euros registered in May 2022, is the first increase following six downward adjustments. It is highlighted that, in Spain, butane gas continues to be a relevant source of energy for many families, with more than 64.5 million containers consumed, although this figure has decreased over time.
The next review It is scheduled for January 2024 and, until then, the new price published in the BOE will apply as of Tuesday, November 21. The question is whether the price limitation will remain in force in the next review.
