This is the second time that Manoj George has won the Grammy Award

Manoj George is back with a Grammy Award for Malayalam. Manoj George has added the Grammy Award to his name with his award-winning ‘Divine Tides’ in the New Age Album category. The music for the album was composed by Ricky Cage. This is the second time that Manoj George from Thrissur has been a part of the Grammy Awards (Grammy 2022).

Ricky Cage’s album ‘Windows of Samsara’ won a Grammy Award in 2015. At the time, Manoj George was the violinist, streaming arranger and conductor for the album. While Ricky Cage’s ‘Divine Tides’ won the Grammy this time around, Manoj George handled the violinist, string arranger and conductor sections. Manoj George is also the first violinist in India to receive a Grammy.

Manoj’s compositions are a fusion of Western and Carnatic music, with Ricky Cage playing the violin in movies and commercials. Manoj has played the violin in more than 3,000 venues with famous singers like Chithra and Hariharan. Susha is the wife of Manoj George.

The highest grosser at the Grammy Awards this time around was John Batist alias Jonathan Michael Batist. John had already garnered rave reviews in the number of nominations at this year’s Grammy. The 35-year-old received 11 nominations. When the awards were announced, he won five of them.

John’s VR won the Best Album of the Year award. His own Freedom won the award for Best Music Video. The awards for Best American Roots Song and Roots Performance went to John’s album ‘Cry’. The award for Best Soundtrack in Visual Media went to his film ‘Soul’, for which he composed the music.

After John Batist, Doja Cat, Herr and Justin Bieber received the most nominations. They all got eight nominations. ‘Doja Cat’ won the award for Best Pop Duo Performance. ‘Her’ won the award for Best Traditional R&B Performance. The album ‘Fight for You’ won the award.

The award for New Artist goes to Olivia Rodrigo. Silk Sonic’s ‘Leave the Door Open’ won the award for Best Record. It’s the best song. Taylor’s Call Me If You Get Lost is the best rap album. Olivia Rodrigo won the Pop Vocal Album Award for her album ‘Sour’. Fans are celebrating the presence of AR Rahman at the event on social media. His son Amin came with him this time.

There were more awards in this category than in the previous year. Last year, the awards were in 84 categories, but this year it has been increased to 86. The awards ceremony, which was scheduled to take place on January 31, was postponed due to the Omicron expansion. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selensky appeared in a video message as a surprise at the ceremony. He began by saying that there was nothing more hopeful than music and explained the devastation that war had wrought on their people. He also spoke regarding the consolation that Ukrainian singers gave to the people during the war.
