This is the ‘pico y placa’ by blocks proposed by Bogotá merchants | Companies | Business

Less than a month has passed since the ‘peak and plate’ extended in Bogota, which applies from 6:00 am to 9 pm

(Bogotá will have ‘pico y placa’ all day: this is how the measure will work).

After almost three weeks since the implementation of the measure, Fenacol Bogotá-Cundinamarca conducted a survey in which it showed that 69% of merchants do not agree with the extension of the ‘pico y placa’ hours.

On the other hand, for 75% of those surveyed, this new measure has affected the work of the company, whose main negative effects are: decrease in the number of clients (74%), rescheduling of appointments with clients-suppliers-investors (48%) and delays in the entry of the work team (36%).

Likewise, the union warns that for a little more than half (55%) of the merchants who participated in the survey, sales have decreased since January 11, compared to the dynamics of the previous year.

OTHER SURVEY DATA

Of those who claimed a decrease in sales, 65% said that they had fallen by up to 20%. For 23%, sales have decreased between 20-40%. And 11 out of 100 merchants tell the Guild that sales have fallen by more than 40%.

(The gastronomy sector will demand the ‘pico y placa’ decree).

On the other hand, 70% do not use any exception contemplated by the District Administration. Of the remaining 30% that have received some exception, 67% affirm that they register for the shared car with 3 or more people, 32% ‘pick and solidarity plate’ and 17% hybrid or electric vehicle.

“These results are very worrying because they have a negative impact on the economic reactivation of the city, which until December was on a very good path. We insist that we are aware that the city requires modifications in mobility due to the works that are being carried out, however, other options should be reviewed because not allowing the use of the vehicle for 2 or 3 full days a week is unsustainable for a person, more if he uses it as a medium for his work”assured Juan Esteban Orrego, director of Fenalco Bogotá-Cundinamarca.

LAUNCH PROPOSAL

Faced with this scenario, the merchants’ union officially proposes a peak and plate model from Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm in a block of four hours per plate.

This means that all vehicles will be able to leave daily but with restrictions during the day of 4 hours per period.

Example: from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., vehicles with even number plates will have ‘pick and plate’ (that is, those with odd number plates may be mobilized); from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. those with an odd plate will not be able to leave; and so on in 4-hour shifts until 10:00 p.m.

(Will the peak and plate promote sustainable mobility?).

“With this model there will be a more efficient use of the city’s infrastructure and public transport, since companies will be able to organize schedules with workers in a staggered manner, the city will have activity from earlier and later, and citizens will be able to do use of your vehicle in a more organized way during the day. This measure of Pico y Placa meets the objective of the Administration on all fronts and in the survey we carried out, 81% of the merchants agree with the proposal, that is why we invite the District to accept it”assured the union leader.
