THE Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested Yusup Sulaeman for claiming to be an employee of the Anti-Corruption Agency. Yusuf then blackmailed officials at the Bogor Regency Government.
The crime was committed because he felt there were irregularities in the project’s implementation.
“Yes, it is no longer a public secret that this is a game played by officials, the e-catalog,” said Yusup when being escorted by police to the KPK’s Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Thursday (25/7).
Yusup checked the project that had a budget of Rp600 billion. According to him, the work was done by the Education Department. When escorted by the police, he denied extortion even though he was caught asking for money.

“In the morning, the KPK received information from an official in Bogor Regency that someone who was later identified by the initials YS (Yusup Sulaeman) who claimed to be a KPK employee was blackmailing the person concerned,” said KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto at the KPK’s Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Thursday (25/7)
Tessa explained that the KPK immediately moved quickly after receiving a report of fraud committed by Yusup, this morning. The Anti-Corruption Agency was reluctant to detail the identity of the Bogor Regency Government official who was blackmailed by the fake employee.
For this arrest, the KPK confiscated Rp300 million and a Porsche car. However, the Anti-Corruption Agency has not been able to confirm that the goods are related to extortion because the investigation is still ongoing. (P-5)
