This is the companion doll of the “gold” Olympic medalist

“I have heard the National Anthem many times in many parts of the world, but every time it is different. In the Olympic Games it is even more impressive and this time I liked it more, because in Tokyo there was no audience, while now in the stands were my mother and my sister”, said Miltos Tedoglou during the awarding of the gold medal.

A few minutes after the awarding, his partner, Penelope Gioni made a related post touching the gold medal.

Penelope Gioni, who covers athletics journalistically due to her professional capacity, is by her partner’s side during his competitions in Greece and abroad, making sure to always keep a discreet attitude.

Miltos Tedoglou: This is his pay for the gold medal – How much money do Greek athletes get

The Greek athlete with a best jump of 8.48 meters climbed to the highest step of the podium for the second consecutive Olympic Games, thus entering the pantheon of the long after becoming – only – the second athlete in history, to have two consecutive Olympic gold medals in the event , after the unsurpassed American, Carl Lewis, who climbed to the highest step of the podium in four consecutive Olympic Games (1984, 1988, 1992, 1996).

As he pointed out in his statements to ERT, this time he was even more grateful because there were people on the platform.

“Very beautiful medal, I like it. Nice award, I appreciated it. I have heard the National Anthem so many times, in so many parts of the world, every time it is different. In the Olympic Games it is even more important and impressive.

I liked it more today, because there were people in the stands this time, in Tokyo there were none. So were my mother and my sister. It is special” stressed the Greek pro-champion and added:

“I’m happy to be here and I was looking at the Greek flag across the street, proud.

I saw all my jumps, I’m happy. They were all big jumps, technically they were nice. There were some things I could change about my time. I’ve had an issue the last few days, I don’t know if I should say, with shoes. I had to wear a new pair of shoes and I didn’t have time to get used to them and I wasn’t as confident as I usually am in this part.”

According to what has become known from the General Secretariat of Sports, upon winning the gold medal, Miltos Tedoglou will receive 90,000 euros from the Greek state, while 60,000 euros is paid for the silver medal and 50,000 euros for the bronze. Also, in the team events, every athlete of the Greek delegation who will be on the 3 steps of the podium, will receive 60% of the amounts mentioned above for each medal.
