THE musical works of singer Rossa in the Indonesian music scene are no longer in doubt. First appearing in 1996 through the song Nada-Nada Cinta, the singer whose full name is Sri Rossa Roslaina Handiyani continues to release the best hits to date.
Having been working for more than 25 years, Rossa always has a special place in the hearts of Indonesian music lovers. Not only baby boomers, the 45-year-old singer’s songs are also still listened to by millennials and Gen Z. Rossa also revealed her secret recipe.
“I always try to, not follow the current trend, but more because I love music so I listen to every genre that I can enjoy. So I also listen to Olivia (Rodrigo), listen to Billie Eilish, listen to Bruno Mars, I just listen to all the songs that are currently hits,” said Rossa in Jakarta, Monday (29/7).
With the variety of music she listens to, Rossa often feels ideas pop into her head to present fresh music, not outdated but still Rossa.
“Well, without perhaps realizing it, all of those things entered my mind, and also entered my music. Maybe that’s why I elevated and tried to, like not being someone else but always creating something new in my music,” he said.
“For example, the songs on the New Chapter album, there are Body Speak, Don’t Lose Him, You Who I Wait for, that’s quite different from Rossa’s era before New Chapter,” he explained.
