In an interview with the New York Times in May, the current senator from Ohio was emphatic in stating that the arrival of foreign workers represents a threat to the American labor market. He described how this fact might affect different sectors of society, such as hospitality and housing.
Vance has written and sponsored several bills aimed at limiting immigration since joining the Senate in 2023. His proposals include imposing fines on illegal immigrants and requiring immigrants to post bail of between $5,000 and $10,000.
Vance in favor of the “great replacement” theory
Vance helped popularize an anti-immigrant conspiracy theory known as “the great replacement.” The theory He argues that Democratic elites are promoting immigration to the United States in order to “replace” or eliminate the political and cultural power of Anglo-Saxon people.
