‘The Window of Dreams’, wonderful work that the company Tecnoglass builds in Colombian Port in homage to migrants and which will be the tallest lighthouse in America, it is advancing at a good pace.

The gigantic structure is being built piece by piece and each one is installed by hand.

In mid-July, the coating with the glass specially made for the piece must begin at the Tecnoglass plant in Barranquilla, which is a tremendously delicate stage. At the end, the light of the lighthouse that will crown the work will be installed.

Before its inauguration, a contest will be held to name this monumental window that, according to Christian Daes, COO de Tecnoglass, “she is the most beautiful of the three sisters”, referring to the ‘Window to the worldYet the ‘Window of Champions’, symbols of Barranquilla.

1,680 square meters of micropiles 20 centimeters in diameter and 18 meters long are installed on the foundation. In total, 56 piles will be installed. It will have 157.78 cubic meters of structural concrete and 38 tons of structural steel.

Regarding urban planning, the work has 27.92 cubic meters of structural concrete, 1.72 tons of steel and 1,095 square meters of stamped concrete for hard areas and 732 square meters of green areas with synthetic grass and trees.

For its execution, 80 tons of scaffolding are used, more than 150 people directly working in the construction and a 200-ton PH crane to assemble the structure.

The projected height of the work is 65 meters and the steel weight of the structure will be 105 tons of hot-dip galvanized steel.

The weight of the aluminum on the façade reaches 25 tons and it has 1,940 square meters of laminated and toughened glass with screen printing in ‘custom’ colors specially formulated for the monument.

The light from the lighthouse will have a range of 20 nautical miles and an autonomous photovoltaic energy system. More than 20,000 stainless steel screws will be used to fix and anchor the glasses.
