This is how the price of the dollar, the euro and the MLC in Cuba looks today 2024-07-12 02:52:41

The price of the dollar in Cuba today remains stable for the third consecutive day.

The informal currency market in Cuba has maintained remarkable stability over the past 72 hours.

According to the latest data shared by the Toque platform, the main foreign currencies have maintained their values without variations since last Monday.

The US dollar, which had registered a decrease of three pesos at the beginning of the week, continues to trade at an average of $340.00 CUP. This stability has been maintained without any additional changes in its value.
The euro, for its part, has remained constant at $350.00 CUP, without fluctuating since Monday. This prolonged stability contrasts with the variations it had experienced in previous weeks.
The Freely Convertible Currency (MLC) is still trading at $295.00 CUP, following having fallen five pesos at the beginning of the week. This value has remained unchanged for the last three days, consolidating below the $300.00 CUP threshold.

Other lower values

It should be noted that in some currency buying and selling groups in Cuba, offers of dollars for less than $335.00 CUP have been found.

Exchange rates are not homogeneous, and the specific reality in terms of supply and demand described in a small municipality in the east is not the same as in the capital, for example.

Many factors influence the value of foreign currency on the informal market at a given time. From the urgency of the person selling or buying, to the place where the exchange transaction is carried out, the amounts offered, and even the state of preservation or the denomination of the banknotes.

The devaluation of the Cuban peso and high inflation continue to be determining factors in exchange rates. However, supply and demand in the informal market continue to be the main drivers of these rates.

Although the stability in the price of the dollar and the MLC can be perceived positively, its impact on the Cuban domestic economy is limited.

The devaluation of the national currency is so significant that these fluctuations, although important, do not generate profound changes in the purchasing power of the population.

Furthermore, the current stability has not had any immediate effect on the prices of food, essential goods and services.
