This Sunday, July 7, thousands of Venezuelans took to the streets of Caracas for the LGBTIQ+ pride march and to demand equal rights.

Thousands of people marched with rainbow flags and banners to demand equal rights and an end to discrimination once morest the LGBTIQ+ community. They continued the march despite the weather conditions on Sunday.

Among the signs, they demand the right to same-sex marriage, the ability to show affection in public, the right to diversity and respect for human rights. Members of human rights NGOs, diplomats, and others also took part in this march.

According to the EFE report, Richelle Briceño, a human rights activist, explained that this march has been organized in Venezuela for 24 years, “and it is very important to know that the LGTBI population is growing“. “What drives the LGTBI population is the hope that at some point they will be certain that their rights will be achieved in the laws and public policies of this country.“, he added.
