This is how opposition rallies are taking place in the interior of the country

  • The call made by opposition leader María Corina Machado took place in several states from 11:00 a.m.

On August 28, one month before the presidential elections, opposition leader María Corina Machado held a call to vote in several states across the country to show support for Edmundo González.

The rally, under the slogan “Act kills a sentence,” began at 11:00 am in the interior of the country, with the attendance of dozens of Venezuelans who with their flags and signs expressed their support for Machado and Edmundo.

In addition to Caracas, protesters also gathered in other cities in the country such as Maturin (Monagas), Puerto Ordaz (Bolívar), Carabobo (Valencia) and Maracay (Aragua).

In Zulia state, protesters with flags and printed documents gathered in front of the Basilica of Our Lady of Chiquinquirá in Maracaibo.

In Anzoátegui, protesters took to the streets in Puerto La Cruz, Barcelona and Lechería, while in Apure they did so in San Fernando.

Venezuelans in Delta Amacuro, Mérida, Nueva Esparta and Sucre also joined the call to express their discontent with the post-election situation in the country.

Statement by Maria Corina Machado

The opposition leader assured, from the rally in Caracas, that Not a single democratic government in the world recognized the reelection of Nicolás Madurowhose victory in the presidential elections on July 28 is considered a “fraud”, as is a large part of the international community.

“Venezuela voted for change and Edmundo González Urrutia is the president-elect,” said the former deputy before hundreds of supporters who gathered on Francisco de Miranda Avenue.

The Venezuelan opposition leader, accompanied by other political leaders such as Delsa Solórzano, Juan Pablo Guanipa, César Pérez Vivas, Alfredo Ramos and Andrés Velásquez, reiterated that they will respect the will of the Venezuelans as expressed in the elections.

The opposition leader said that the protests will continue to be held to show that there is no turning back until the will of the majority of Venezuelans is respected.

He also reiterated that with each passing day they are moving forward with a robust strategy that is working to achieve the goal of enforcing sovereignty and for Edmundo González to be recognized as the elected president of Venezuela.

“Now they say that the regime will not give in, we will make it respect the will of the people expressed on July 28. All united in one voice, those of us inside and outside Venezuela,” the opposition leader emphasized.
