On her way to the final, the Polish woman had no major problems and dealt with each rival quite confidently. This is evidenced by the fact that all matches were settled in two sets. The closest she came to losing was in the semi-finals of one of them. Yanina Wickmayer (109th WTA) managed to lead to a tie-break in it.

Świątek wins the tournament in Warsaw. How much did she earn?

Soon after the end of the meeting – Saturday’s semi-final was continued on Sunday – Iga Świątek (1st WTA) played the final match with Laura Siegemund (153rd WTA). The difference in levels was evident from the very beginning of this clash. In the first set, the Polish woman outclassed her rival and won as much as 6:0. It only lasted half an hour. The situation was similar in the second set and Świątek won again, although this time the German managed to get a gem. This is her first success in these competitions. The previous edition was won by Caroline Garcia, who then eliminated the Polish woman in the quarter-finals.

The total prize pool of the Warsaw Open 2023 amounted to USD 259,303, i.e. just over one million zlotys. For the victory in the final, Iga Świątek received 34,228 dollars. These are still impressive amounts, but much less than what you can get at the biggest tournaments. For reaching the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, Iga Świątek received … 340,000 pounds. This is more than 10 times more than for winning in Warsaw.

They turned up in crowds for the final match and filled the stands on the courts of Warsaw’s Legia. They have nothing to regret, because they witnessed a very certain victory of the Polish tennis player.
