According to this, 68 percent of eleven to 17 year olds in Austria use the video app, 80 percent of them daily. This put TikTok behind other platforms such as WhatsApp (96 percent), YouTube (94 percent) and Instagram (75 percent).
According to a TikTok survey, 64 percent of users in Germany believe that TikTok helps them to express themselves freely. 62 percent of users say that TikTok has improved their perception of other people and cultures and around half say that TikTok makes them feel part of a community of people with similar interests and values.

Later, several federal states followed suit. The reason for this was security gaps that allow the app “extensive access to the operating system and device,” it was said at the time.
